So the trip of my mom, Kitty and Khymba has been over now for a bit over a week. I really enjoyed having them to visit. I didn't get to see a lot of them, as I was working much of the week. However, there was Scrabble played. AND... on the Friday that they were here, I drove to Nashua to pick up the best friend (Andy) and we all spent the day in Cambridge. Just FYI, it was damnably cold. We went to the Garment District, at which I got this kick-ass Nepalese sweater that is abut three sizes too big for twelve bucks (and of course three dollar gloves, as it was so cold!) Also, we ate at Anna's at MIT. Oh yeah, and I got my first tattoo :) It be the earth (focused on Africa) with a UU chalice offset-right with the words "Liefde" (meaning "Love" in Dutch) and "Siochain" ("Peace" in Gaelic) on the top and bottom of the earth respectively. I have been pretty anal about washing and moisturizing the "wound" that one Ellen of the Chameleon has inflicted on I. Other news of late, let us see..... The Burlington Ecco store is closed until late February for renovations, which places me solely in Northshore. This would usually be absolute hell for how boring it is, but I've had the oppurtunity to train a new guy (former employee of the Happy Feet cart) and there has been soooo much stock work to get done. In additon, today I shall be going to Burlington to hang with Mr. Durrant as he watches the store with the construction workers coming and going. Oh! And Elspeth and I have been watching a lot of The West WIng of late, too (we are on season two... she is on season four!) And now if you will excuse me, I shall look for a worthy LJ group to join so as I can justify having an account. Enjoy!! :D Liefde & Siochain!! Tags: redcarpetrosie Current Location: Reading, Mass. Almost a week has passed since Elspeth and I returned home from visiting the family back in Uhiuh. We drove the full way there on a Sunday (New Years Eve) and drove the full way back on the following Sunday. We had an amazing time, and Elspeth is now a part of my family. This makes me happier than wa seven imaginable to me. I already feel as though I am a part of hers, so this completes the full circle. :) I introduced her to old colleagues, my dad and little brother, my grandfather as well as showing off my old stomping grounds. Middle-of-the-night pizza, the Gap, Banana Republic, Waffle House (which Mass dousn't have!!), Jungle Jim's and of course my grandparent's old farm (where I spent so much of my childhood.) 'Twas a grand trip, but I am glad to have returned. My mom, brother and sister are coming up in about a week to stay with us!! I am excited.... As for my job at the Ecco store. With two of the company's store managers abscent for a good month still to come, much responsibility has fallen onto my shoulders. I am both opening and closing two different stores at any time during the week. My usual store in Burlington has not been my workplace since early this week, as I have been closing the much smaller store at Northshore. I have met some interesting people there, but I miss my dear friend in Burlington Tom Durrant. He's like another father to me.... And.... my job may prevent me from tripping to Rwanda, which had been in my plans for a good six months now. Oh well.... if not this year then another still to come. I look forward to the year ahead as I look back on the year's past and realize how much has truly happened in my life. :) All good!! Much peace to whoever may come across this post. To my dear Elspeth, I love you with all of my heart. :D Liefde!! Tags: redcarpetrosie Current Location: Reading, Mass. Current Music: Interpol

I got an e-mail from my aunt in Seattle saying that she had received a letter from a manager at Rein's Deli in Connecticut. In the envelope was a check made out to myself, and signed by my aunt (Sue.) Apparently, when getting in to the car to leave, I had dropped the check from my pocket. The manager had found it, and using the address on the check, mailed it to Sue. I believe this display of honesty truly shows that the holiday spirit is in full bloom this year. Also.... this year, I am for the first time in several years, in a house that celebrates Christmas. Not the "traditional" Christmas, with the nativity scene etc. But still, Christmas. They have done everything to make me feel completely comfortable. The four of us, went to the Duck Walk for celebration of Solstice (my "holiday.") I enjoy surrounding myself with people who respect my right to celebrate a holiday that isn't Christmas. Hence, when I send customers on their ways at the Ecco store, I bid them a good day with a smile and "Happy Holidays." I say it not with anger toward Christianity, but with an open mind that like myself, this person may be celebrating something other than Christmas. This "holiday season" has been everything I could have hoped for and SO much more. My lovely girlfriend has been nothing short of an absolute angel (ALL THE TIME!! :D) Yesterday, despite quite the migraine, she ventured with me into Boston via subway. We wandered Quincy Market after having lunch at Al's on State Street. I love you. There are so many words to describe my feeling for you, but that is the simplest and dearest to my heart. I LOVE YOU. Happy holidays to everyone. Whatever holiday you celebrate, may it be filled with joy and may you have someone you love by your side.
